An index of names for Cemeteries and Obituaries is found under UDM (United Data Module). Select Data Set then choose either Obituaries & Death Notices or Ross County Cemetery Records. You must be a member to see complete information.
Cemetery Transcriptions
The Cemetery index is not a complete list of burials for each cemetery. More names will be added as time permits. A more complete list of Cemetery transcriptions is available in book form by township. Copies may be purchased by clicking on "Store" and completing the ordering information for each book requested.
Obituaries & Death Notices
RCGS has a collection of over 57, 000 obituaries, obituary notices and death articles in our files. Please note that some of these can be quite lengthy and some are very brief. Early obituaries are sometimes the only source for information on an ancestor as birth and deaths were not recorded in Ohio until 1867. These obituaries come mostly from donations. If you have obituaries from Ross County that you do not see in our index, we would welcome copies for our files. You may mail a copy to us or send a scanned copy to info@rcgsohio.org. Print, fill out form and mail your request and payment to: Ross County Genealogical Society, PO Box 6352, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
