South Salem Cemetery (Buckskin Township, Ross County) Ohio About 1805, the Buckskin Presbyterian congregation moved from its location northeast of the present village of Salem to an area on the west side of the present town and, at an unknown time, a new cemetery was begun at that location. The church stood in Section 2 of the present cemetery and Rev. Hugh Fullerton, who preached there for many years, is buried n the spot where his purpit stood. When Salem village was laid out and constructed, the church's name became South Salem Cemetery. It is still in use. Many of the early stones are difficult to read. Some are so weathered that very little of the inscription can be read. |
